ABSTRACT

Objective:To study the effects of enhanced breastfeeding management on the neurodevelopmental outcomes of preterm infants in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).Methods:From January to December 2020, preterm infants with gestational age (GA) ≥32 weeks admitted to NICU of our hospital were randomly assigned into the enhance group and the control group. Breast-feeding education using WeChat and routinely playing recorded mother's sound to the infants were carried out in the enhance group, while conventional management was carried out in the control group. Breastfeeding status was followed up regularly in both groups. Mental development index (MDI) and psychomotor development index (PDI) at 6-month of corrected GA were measured using Infant Intelligence Development Scale. Results:A total of 109 cases were included in the enhance group and 118 cases in the control group. The breast-feeding rates in the enhance group were significantly higher than the control group at discharge, 3-month and 6-month of corrected GA [88.1% (96/109) vs. 61.0% (72/118), 90.8% (99/109) vs. 67.8% (80/118), 88.1% (96/109) vs. 61.9% (73/118)] ( P<0.05). MDI and PDI at 6-month of corrected GA in the enhance group were significantly higher than the control group [(106.2±10.7) vs. (101.9±11.4), (103.4±13.7) vs. (99.5±11.6)] ( P<0.05). Conclusions:Enhanced breast-feeding management is helpful improving the breast-feeding rate of preterm infants in NICU and beneficial to the neurodevelopment of preterm infants.

ABSTRACT

Aim To observe the mRNA expressions of cell cycle regulators at different time points during the hypertrophic process of H9 c2 rat cardiomyoctes in-duced by angiotensin Ⅱ stimulation. Methods H9c2 myocytes were stimulated with 1.0 μmol · L-1 angio-tensin Ⅱ (Ang Ⅱ)for scheduled time.Cells were stained by Rhodamine labeled phalloidin and the cell area was measured by ImageJ software.mRNA expres-sion levels of cyclin B,D,E,cyclin dependent kinase (CDK)1,2,4,6,and CDK inhibitor p21 were de-termined by real-time PCR at different time points (0, 5,10,30 min,and 1,2,3,6,12,24,48 h).Re-sults H9 c2 cell size increased soon after stimulation of Ang Ⅱ;mRNA expressions of cyclin E,CDK4 and CDK2 all reached the peak at 5 min after stimulation of Ang Ⅱ;mRNA expression of cyclin D was increased dramatically at 10 min, followed by a decrease trend. However, the mRNA expression of cyclin B and CDK6 both showed two peaks,a p2 1 mRNA level was up to the peak at 30 min,and the expression was lowest at 3h.Although its expression increased gradually after 3h,p21 mRNA remained low level. Conclusion mRNA expression levels of the cell cycle regulators fluctuate and jointly facilitate the hypertrophic process of cardiomyocytes.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the relationship between the existence of DME and the SFCT in DR pa-tients. Methods We collected 70 cases which were clinical diabetic involving 122 eyes. They are 36 men with 64 eyes and 34 women with 58 eyes. The average age is 56.7 ± 9.7 year-old. All patients had been examined by oph-thalmologic examination. Grouping: patients without diabetic retinopathy (NDR) group; mild-to-moderate NPDR group; severe NPDR group; PDR group. The last three groups were divided into two subgroup groupsrespectively , which were cases with and without significant macular edema (CSME + / CSME). EDI was used to measure the SFCT. SPSS 17.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Results The average SFCT of NDR group, mild-to-moderate NPDR group, severe NPDR group and the PDR group respectively were (282.94 ± 104.21)μm, (313.62 ± 94.40)μm, (382.44 ± 76.91)μm, (335.00 ± 73.82)μm. Compared with the NDR group, SFCT was thicker than the other three groups, and difference was statistically significant (F = 2.786, P = 2.786). There were no statisti-cally significant difference of SFCT between the mild-to-moderate NPDR/CSME - group and mild-to-moderate NPDR/CSME + group, severe NPDR/CSME - group and severe NPDR/CSME + group PDR/CSME-group, PDR/CSME + group. Conclusions The SFCT of DR patients could potentially be thickenedas disease became serious. When considered the same degree DR, there is no obvious difference of SFCT between patients with CSME and without CSME.

ABSTRACT

Objective To assess the academic influence of research on blood pressure in the world and its frontiers. Methods Papers on blood pressure published from 2004 to 2008 and from 2009 to 2013 in China and foreign coun-tries were retrieved from Web of Science. Their academic influencing power was assessed and their evolution in the past 10 years was displayed by Citespace. Results The world outputs in research on blood pressure increased steadily from 2004 to 2014. The competitive force of the USA-led developed Western countries was strong and stable. The out-puts in research on blood pressure in China increased rapidly, but its influencing power was relatively low. Although progress was made at micro and macro levels, greater advances were achieved at gene, molecular and big data levels in the past 10 years. Conclusion The USA and European countries-led development in research on blood pressure is steady, and it is urgent for China to reduce its gap with USA and European countries.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the effect of transdermal fentanyl combined with gabapentin for the treatment of malignant neu-ropathic pain (MNP). Methods:A total of 60 patients with MNP were randomly divided into two groups. A total of 30 cases in the con-trol group received transdermal fentanyl according to the dosages of opioid medicine that patients used. Such dosages were gradually in-creased until the pain relief visual analogue scale (VAS) fell below 3 or until the times of breakthrough pain became less than 3. For the combined group, gabapentin was co-administered with transdermal fentanyl, similar to the control group. Initially, 100 mg of gabapen-tin was administered thrice a day. This dosage was gradually increased until pain relief. However, gabapentin dosages were kept below 2,400 mg a day. VAS, quality of life (QOL), degree of pain relief, dosages of fentanyl and morphine, and side effects were evaluated be-fore treatment and at one, two, three, and four weeks after the treatment. Results:Both groups exhibited lower VAS after treatment (P<0.05), but the difference was observed to be more significant in the combined group than that in the control group (P<0.05). Both groups exhibited improved QOL (P<0.05), which was observed to be more significant in the combined group than in the control group (P<0.05). The effective rate was 96.7%in the combined group and 83.3%in the control group. The dosage of opioid medicine and the side effects in the combined group were less than those in the control group. Conclusion:Transdermal fentanyl combined with gabapen-tin is effective for the treatment of malignant neuropathic pain.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of different pressures of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) treatment on neuropathic pain (NP) in rats. Methods Twenty-four healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 4 groups (n =6 each):sham operation group (group S),NP group, treatment with HBO at 2.0 atmosphere absolute group (group HBO2.0) and treatment with HBO at 2.5 atmosphere absolute group (group HBO2.5).The animals were anesthetized with intraperitoneal 5 % chloral hydrate 300 mg/kg.NP was induced by chronic constrictive injury. The left sciatic nerve was exposed and 4 loose ligatures were placed on the sciatic nerve at 1-mm intervals with 4-0 silk thread. After the rats were placed in the HBO chamber, the pressure was increased at a rate of 10 kPa/min until the desired pressure was reached, and then the pressure was maintained at this level for 60 min.The pressure was then decreased at a rate of 10 kPa/min until the normal pressure was reached.HBO treatment was performed once a day for 5 consecutive days starting from 1st day after operation in groups HBO2.0 and HBO2.5.While the rats were only placed in the HBO chamber and stayed for 100 min in groups S and NP.The mechanical paw withdrawal threshold (MWT) and thermal paw withdrawal latency (TWL) were measured at 0,1and 2 h after leaving the HBO chamber (T0.2).Results Compared with group S,MWT was significantly decreased and TWL was shortened in group NP (P < 0.05).Compared with group NP,MWT was significantly increased and TWL prolonged at T1 during the treatment (P < 0.05),while no significant change was found in MWT and TWL at T2 during the treatment in groups HBO2.0 and HBO2.5 (P > 0.05).There was no significant difference in MWT and TWL at each time point during the treatment between groups HBO2.0 and HBO2.5 (P > 0.05).Conclusion Treatment with different pressures of HBO can reduce NP in rats, but the change in pressure dose not affect the analgesic efficacy.

ABSTRACT

Objective The current study is aimed to investigate the association of single nucleotide polymorphisms and gene expression in peptidylarginine deiminase Ⅳ (PADI4) with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).Methods The gene expression of PADI4 was examined using real-time quantitative reverse transcription-polymcrase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in 70 patients with RA and 81 healthy controls. Four exonie SNPs of the PADI4 gene (PADI4_89, _90, _92, _104) were genotyped using DNA sequencing and TA cloning. Results The distribution of PADI4_89, _90, _104 SNPs in RA was different from that of healthy controls. The increased RA susceptibility was significantly associated with minor alleles. When haplotypes were construe -ted with 4 SNPs, two major haplotypes, ACCC and GTGT were found in all samples, and GTGT haplo-type (carrying only the minor alleles) was significandy associated with increased RA susceptibility (P<0.01)in comparison with the reference haplotype ACCC. There was over expression of PADI4 in RA than controls(P<0.05). C, enotypes carrying the minor alleles had higher expression level of PADI4 in RA and controls than those with the common alleles. Conclusion PADI4 SNPs and haplotypes are associated with RA susceptibility in Chinese. PADI4 is over-expressed in the blood of RA patients, and there is significant association between the haplotypes and expression level of the PADI4 gene.
